Sacral neuromodulation in endometriosis – A promising treatment option for chronic pelvic pain [PDF]

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 102, Issue 12, Page 1634-1642, December 2023., 2023
The treatment of chronic pelvic pain related to endometriosis is difficult and the mainstream remain medical therapy and surgery. Based on the preliminary findings of our study, it appears that SNM is a promising treatment option of CPP in endometriosis patients that do not respond to conventional therapies.

Adsorção de xantatos sobre pirita [PDF]

open access: yesQuimica Nova, 2001
This paper presents a study of adsorption of xanthate with alkyl chain of two (C2XK), four (C4XK) and eight (C8XK) atoms of carbon, on pyrite from Santa Catarina, Brazil. The results showed that pyrite surface changes from hydrophilic to hydrophobic when xanthate is adsorbed increasing the contact angle to 35o for C2XK, and to 90o for C4XK and C8XK ...

Meiosis in allopolyploid Arabidopsis suecica [PDF]

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 111, Issue 4, Page 1110-1122, August 2022., 2022
SUMMARY Polyploidy is a major force shaping eukaryote evolution but poses challenges for meiotic chromosome segregation. As a result, first‐generation polyploids often suffer from more meiotic errors and lower fertility than established wild polyploid populations.

Root puppet masters: Infauna shift trait‐productivity relationships in submerged aquatic vegetation communities [PDF]

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2024.
While co‐restoration of seagrass and infauna is a viable solution to increase submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) restoration success, more research is needed to understand how infauna affects the drivers of SAV biomass production. In this study, we conducted a transplant experiment with synthetic mixed‐species SAV communities and an infauna treatment ...

Transport and distribution of bottom sediments at Pirita Beach; 233–254

open access: yesEstonian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2007
The basic factors affecting sediment supply for and transport processes at Pirita Beach, a sandy section of the southeastern coast of Tallinn Bay, are analysed. Observations of bathymetry, sediment properties and sources, sediment transport processes and their changes arising from coastal engineering activities are reported.

Sacral Neuromodulation: Foray into Chronic Pelvic Pain in End Stage Endometriosis [PDF]

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Excision of all endometriotic lesions is the method of choice in the treatment of severe endometriosis resistant to medical therapy. The infiltrating nature of the disease as well as extensive surgery may, however, cause chronic pain that cannot be relieved by either surgery or hormonal treatment.

Environmental responses of fruiting fungal communities are phylogenetically structured

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2023, Issue 10, October 2023., 2023
Through their ephemeral reproductive structures (fruiting bodies), ectomycorrhizal forest soil fungi provide a resource for a plethora of organisms. Thus, resolving what biotic and abiotic factors determine the occurrence and abundance of fruiting bodies is fundamental for understanding the dynamics of forest trophic networks.

Taura kuku: prioritising Māori knowledge and resources to create biodegradable mussel spat settlement lines for shellfish restoration in Ōhiwa harbour

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 56, Issue 3, Page 570-584, September 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) is grounded in place‐based, multi‐generational knowledge and the connection of that knowledge with the environments from which it is derived. It takes for granted that all elements of the natural world are related, and it is upon those relationships that survival depends.
