Testing the Equivalent Photon Approximation of the Proton in the Process $e p\to νW X$ [PDF]

open access: yesEur.Phys.J. C38 (2004) 79-84, 2004
The accuracy of the equivalent photon approximation (EPA) of the proton in describing the inelastic process $ep\to \nu W X$ is investigated. In particular, the scale dependence of the corresponding inelastic photon distribution is discussed. Furthermore, an estimate of the total number of events, including the ones coming from the elastic and quasi ...

Probing the Perturbative NLO Parton Evolution in the Small-$x$ Region [PDF]

open access: yesEur.Phys.J.C40:515-517,2005, 2004
A dedicated test of the perturbative QCD NLO parton evolution in the very small-$x$ region is performed. We find a good agreement with recent precision HERA-data for $F_2^p(x,Q^2)$, as well as with the present determination of the curvature of $F_2^p$. Characteristically, perturbative QCD evolutions result in a positive curvature which increases as $x$

More pumas (Puma concolor) does not change perceptions: The mismatched response of ranchers to the presence of a top carnivore

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Human‐wildlife conflicts (HWCs) are one of the most critical conservation challenges worldwide. Large carnivores are frequently at the centre of these conflicts because of the perceived and real threats they pose to livestock and human safety.

Gas-Rich Companions of Isolated Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We have used the VLA to search for gaseous remnants of the galaxy formation process around six extremely isolated galaxies. We found two distinct HI clouds around each of two galaxies in our sample (UGC 9762 & UGC 11124).

Dynamical NNLO parton distributions and the perturbative stability of F_L(x,Q^2) [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D77:074002,2008; Erratum-ibid.D78:019902,2008, 2007
It is shown that the previously noted extreme perturbative NNLO/NLO instability of the longitudinal structure function F_L(x,Q^2) is a mere artefact of the commonly utilized `standard' gluon distributions. In particular it is demonstrated that using the appropriate -- dynamically generated -- parton distributions at NLO and NNLO, F_L(x,Q^2) turns out ...

Resource reallocation across successive systemic innovations: How Rolls‐Royce shaped the evolution of the turbojet, turboprop, and turbofan

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Despite the importance of resource reallocation in shaping a variety of strategic outcomes, strategy scholars have paid only limited attention to the processes by which firms reallocate their resources across successive systemic innovations.
