Although overshadowed in the New Testament by a different Antioch (Antioch on the Orontes), Antioch of Pisidia was an important city during Hellenistic and Roman times. Archaeological excavations have uncovered the remains of a thriving city, complete with theater, baths, temples, stadium, nymphaeum, paved streets, and aqueduct.

Abstract The incorporation of certain Pontic territories (c.2 B.C.) was perhaps a measure not merely local in significance. It might have led to something more. As the event showed, it was a change without consequence. The prime action in this age of Anatolian history concerns Galatia and the mountain zone in the south.
