Lignin and hemicellulose are used to develop agricultural adjuvants to decrease agrochemical run‐off from foliage, by suppressing droplet rebound and enhancing adhesion of aqueous solutions on plant leaves. The wood components combine surface activity with surface pinning effects and to improve by tenfold the droplet rebound in citrus leaves ...

Towards controlled Fizeau observations with the Large Binocular Telescope
The Large Binocular Telescope Interferometer (LBTI) can perform Fizeau interferometry in the focal plane, which accesses spatial information out to the LBT's full 22.7-m edge-to-edge baseline.

A multi-purpose modular system for high-resolution microscopy at high hydrostatic pressure [PDF]
We have developed a modular system for high-resolution microscopy at high hydrostatic pressure. The system consists of a pressurised cell of volume ~100 microlitres, a temperature controlled holder, a ram and a piston. We have made each of these components in several versions which can be interchanged to allow a wide range of applications.

Analytical expressions for optimum alignment modes of highly segmented mirrors
The major sources causing deterioration of optical quality in extremely large optical telescopes are misadjustments of the mirrors, deformations of monolithic mirrors, and misalignments of segments in segmented mirrors. For active optics corrections, all

Transcranial ultrasound holds great potential in medical applications. However, effective transcranial ultrasound transmission remains challenging. To address these, this work introduces an innovative Mie‐resonance flexible metamaterial (MRFM), which consists of periodically arranged low‐speed micropillars embedded within a high‐speed flexible ...

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.

The double perovskite BaSrNiWO6 is developed as an oxygen evolution reaction catalyst. B‐site W6+ dissolution drives in situ reconstruction of the surface to a disordered, NiO‐like layer. Consequently, local oxygen species are activated for a surface lattice oxygen evolution mechanism (sLOEM).
