Adaptive optics for array telescopes using piston-and-tilt wave-front sensing

Applied Optics, 1992
A near-infrared adaptive optics system operating at approximately 50 Hz has been used to control phase errors adaptively between two mirrors of the Multiple Mirror Telescope by stabilizing the position of the interference fringe in the combined unresolved far-field image.

A Tip-Tilt-Piston Micromirror Array for Optical Phased Array Applications

Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2010
A tip-tilt-piston micromirror array based on electrothermal bimorph actuation is presented. The micromirror uses a compactly folded actuator design that can realize high fill-factor with a simple fabrication process. A 4 × 4 micromirror array with sub-apertures of 0.9 mm and a fill-factor of 54% is demonstrated.

Optical Ways to Improve the Tribological System Piston - Ring - Liner

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The reliable function of the system piston - piston ring -liner depends strongly on the correct quantity of oil. A balance between the sufficient oil offer and minimum emission is to be found. For this system numerous computation programs exist however their results strongly depends from the boundary conditions. To

MEMS tip/tilt and piston mirror arrays as diffractive optical elements

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
We present an analytic evaluation of the optical performance of a tip/tilt and piston Spatial Light Modulator, for use in adaptive optic and beam steering applications. The impact of array fill factor, pixel curvature, position and tilt accuracy, and pixel yield are discussed in detail.

Two Dimensional MEMS Piston Array for DUV Optical Pattern Generation

IEEE/LEOS International Conference on Optical MEMS and Their Applications Conference, 2006., 2006
We describe the design, fabrication and dynamics of a two dimensional array of MEMS piston mirrors that fulfil the requirements needed to modulate deep ultraviolet radiation for mask pattern ...

MEMS mirror with tip or piston motion for use in adaptive optics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
An array of high fill factor mirrors has each mirror be coupled across two deformable spring bars that are deformed using a drive. The two deformable springs are parallel to each other, and coupled together, e.g., by a cross bar. A support is coupled at one end to the cross bar and at its opposite end to the mirror. Coupled across the deformable spring

Piston's thermal fatigue testing device for thermal engine in motor vehicle, has optical pyrometer that measures maximum temperature in part of piston, and optical measurement unit that indicates structural damage of piston

2011
The device has an electromagnetic induction based heating unit i.e. solenoid coil (12), arranged in a cup (21) of a piston, and adapted to realize heating cycles. A channel (13) of a cooling circuit is permanently supplied with a fluid at temperature lower than maximum temperature reached at the time of the heating cycles. The cooling circuit is placed
