Variable Displacement Control of the Concrete Pumping System Based on Dynamic Programming

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
To solve the problems of cylinder piston striking cylinder and the hydraulic shocking of the main pump, and causing energy waste problem, the method of variable displacement control of piston stroke was proposed.

Non-adiabatic pumping in an oscillating-piston model

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the prototypical "piston pump" operating on a ring, where a circulating current is induced by means of an AC driving. This can be regarded as a generalized Fermi-Ulam model, incorporating a finite-height moving wall (piston) and non trivial ...

The effect of artificial gravity on the outcome of a two‐week resistance vibration exercise programme: BRAVE study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract We evaluated the feasibility and efficacy of a 2‐week training programme comprising resistance vibration exercise (RVE) without and with artificial gravity (AG). Participants (n = 24) were divided into three groups: (i) URVE: upright loaded squat exercise; (ii) HRVE: horizontal loaded squat exercise; and (iii) AGRVE: loaded squat exercise ...

Recent Advances in Design of Low Cost Film Concentrator and Low Pressure Free Piston Stirling Engines for Solar Power [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The free piston Stirling-linear alternator was shown to be scalable to power levels of tens of kilowatts in a form which is simple, efficient, long lived and relatively inexpensive.

A Mathematical Model for Two‐Phase Flow in Confined Environments: Numerical Solution and Validation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 3, Page 306-320, March 2026.
We present a numerical framework based on the Cahn‐Hilliard‐Navier‐Stokes (CHNS) model to simulate biphasic flow in confined environments. After deriving the mathematical model, we develop the weak form of the system of PDEs using a pedagogical approach to enable its implementation in FEniCS.

Reciprocating magnetic refrigerator employing tandem porous matrices within a reciprocating displacer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for a magnetic refrigeration system. A continuously reciprocating displacer houses at least a pair of paramagnetic substances each of which is alternately driven into and out of a magnetic field.

Induced opening of conformational switch I in GTP‐bound Ran GTPase

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Ran is a small GTPase that regulates nucleocytoplasmic transport by cycling between an inactive GDP‐bound and active GTP‐bound state. Structurally, Ran consists of a globular G‐domain and a C‐terminal region that includes a C‐terminal helix. The switch I and II regions of the G‐domain undergo major conformational changes upon GTP hydrolysis ...

Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) Pogo testing and results [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
To effectively assess the Pogo stability of the space shuttle vehicle, it was necessary to characterize the structural, propellant, and propulsion dynamics subsystems.
