Modelling a Double Piston Pump
Proceedings of SPE International Thermal Operations and Heavy Oil Symposium and International Horizontal Well Technology Conference, 2002Abstract The idea of using serial arrangements of sucker rod pumps to efficiently produce heavy oil wells with high gas to oil ratio has been analyzed in Venezuela since 1996. However, models to calculate the dimensions of the required plungers have not been presented in previous literature. An analytical model is presented in this work,

A hydrocarbon-free backing pump is described in which only stainless steel, tungsten carbide and mercury are exposed to the vacuum system. The pumping speed is approximately 41. min-1 and the lowest pressure measured using the pump in conjunction with a cold trap was approximately 20 μtorr.

Experimental Simulation of Piston Leakage in an Axial Piston Pump
Fluid Power Systems and Technology, 2005A method used to introduce “artificial leakage” into an axial piston pump to simulate leakage from a worn piston is described in this paper. A pressure control servo valve with a very high frequency response was employed to divert flow from the pump outlet in a prescribed waveform directly to tank.

The Pumping Dynamics of Swash Plate Piston Pumps
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1989This paper describes a study of the cylinder pressure and flow in an oil hydraulic axial piston pump. A comparison is made between a theoretical model based on the effects of fluid compliance within the cylinder, and an improved model which accounts for the influence of oil momentum in the port plate region.
