Diagnosis of Pit-and-fissure Caries Using Three-dimensional Scanned Images [PDF]

open access: yesOperative Dentistry, 2018
SUMMARYDiagnosis of the extent of pit-and-fissure caries has been subjective and thus difficult to teach and categorize for treatment planning. This in vitro study compares occlusal caries diagnosis of extracted posterior teeth (n=49) using three-dimensional (3D) scanned images vs visual examination, according to the International Caries Detection and ...

Craniofacial growth, modeling, and estimation of milestones

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding craniofacial growth is foundational for research into intra‐ and interspecies variation, evolution, and clinical care. The Craniofacial Growth Consortium Study (CGCS), combines cephalographs from historical growth studies to create a dense longitudinal record of growth from 6 to 22 years of age.

Beyond antimicrobials: Ecological nano‐strategies for rebalancing dysbiotic oral microbial homeostasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Oral microbial homeostasis, a dynamic host‐microbe balance, is vital in infectious diseases. Conventional antibiotics often disrupt this homeostasis, spurring interest in nanomaterials for oral microbial homeostasis rebalancing. This review outlines nanomaterial strategies across three ecological levels (population/community, ecosystem, and cross ...

Ordered assembly of Cas12a for better performance of CRISPR/Cas system with application to the diagnosis of dental caries

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Here, we present a tetrahedral DNA framework (TDF)‐mediated Cas12a ordered assembly strategy. TDFs arrange CRISPR/Cas12a into ordered structures controllably, enhancing catalytic efficiency through localized Cas12a hotspots while maintaining spatial intervals to facilitate substrate diffusion.

Subchronic Exposure to Cannabis‐Based Nanoemulsions Induces Histopathological and Molecular Alterations in the Rat Submandibular Gland

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increasing therapeutic incorporation of cannabis has expanded phytocannabinoid application, yet peripheral adverse effects like xerostomia raise concerns regarding emerging biotechnological formulations. This study evaluated the effects of cannabis‐based lipid nanoemulsions on the rat submandibular gland parenchyma.
