A Synovium‐on‐Chip Platform to Study Multicellular Interactions in Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The Synovium‐on‐Chip comprises a thin microporous PDMS membrane to support co‐culture of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), THP‐1‐derived macrophages, and endothelial cells, enabling real‐time analysis of synovial‐vascular interactions. FLS migration through the pores drives endothelial remodeling, while TNF‐α stimulation induces robust inflammatory ...

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.

Acentos vizcaínos

open access: yesAnuario del Seminario de Filología Vasca "Julio de Urquijo", 1989
In this article, the prosodic systems of a number of Biscayan Basque varieties are described and analyzed. It is argued that the detailed description of the facts must be previous to the formulation of generalizations, synchronic or diachronic, about ...

Using neural networks to locate pitch accents

open access: yes4th European Conference on Speech Communication and Technology (Eurospeech 1995), 1995
This paper descirbes a technique for finding intonatioanl events, (pitch accents and boundary tones) from waveforms. The technique works in a bottom-up manner by using a recurrent neural network to perform a classification of each frame in the input waveform.

The Interaction of Contrastive Stress and Grammatical Context in Child English Speakers’ Interpretations of Existential Quantifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Scalar implicatures, such as the “some, but not all” implicature associated with the existential quantifier “some”, are systematically canceled in downward entailing (DE) environments, such as the antecedent clause of a conditional sentence (cf.

A Cryoprotectant‐Compatible Nanoporous Platform for Stable and Scalable Delivery of Biopharmaceuticals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A cryoprotectant‐compatible nanoporous platform enables ambient‐stable and scalable delivery of gene editing therapeutics. By combining hierarchical pore architecture with optimized lyophilization chemistry, the system preserves Cas9‐RNP activity post‐freeze‐drying.

When Pitch Falls Short: Reinforcing Prosodic Boundaries to Signal Focus in Japanese

open access: yesLanguages
This production study examines how Japanese speakers mark information structure through an Edge-Reinforcing Strategy—a prosodic system that signals focus via boundary-based cues, independently of lexical pitch accent or phrasing constraints.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...
