Multistability and nonsmooth bifurcations in the quasiperiodically forced circle map

open access: yes, 2000
It is well-known that the dynamics of the Arnold circle map is phase-locked in regions of the parameter space called Arnold tongues. If the map is invertible, the only possible dynamics is either quasiperiodic motion, or phase-locked behavior with a ...

Multi-stabilities and symmetry-broken one-colour and two-colour states in closely coupled single-mode lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We theoretically investigate the dynamics of two mutually coupled identical single-mode semi-conductor lasers. For small separation and large coupling between the lasers, symmetry-broken one-colour states are shown to be stable.

Bi‐Directional Assembly of Boron Nitride µ‐Platelets by Micro‐Molding for Advanced Thermal Interface Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bi‐directionally assembled BN µ‐platelets in micropatterns formed by a micro‐molding method for thermal interface materials are demonstrated. The BN µ‐platelets are vertically aligned selectively, while compressed regions without patterns accommodate horizontally assembled BN µ‐platelets. Through anisotropic orientation, high thermal conductivities for

The Local Bifurcation of Food web Prey-Predator Model involving fear and anti-Predator behavior

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences
In this paper, the conditions under which the occurrence of the local bifurcation (such as saddle-node (SN), transcritical (TC), and pitchfork (PT)) of all stable points of a food web model have been investigated.

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

Exact solutions for chemical concentration waves of self-propelling camphor particles racing on a ring: A novel potential dynamics perspective

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2014
A potential dynamics approach is developed to determine the periodic standing and traveling wave patterns associated with self-propelling camphor objects floating on ring-shaped water channels. Exact solutions of the wave patterns are derived.

Hopf bifurcations in the full SKT model and where to find them [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, we consider the Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teramoto (SKT) model, which presents cross-diffusion terms describing competition pressure effects. Even though the reaction part does not present the activator-inhibitor structure, cross-diffusion can destabilise the homogeneous equilibrium.

Silicon Nanowire Mats Enable Advanced Bioelectrical Recordings in Primary DRG Cell Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
SiNW mat‐based MEA (NW_MEA) enables continuous intracellular recordings from neurons in primary rat DRG cell cultures, identifying C‐fiber nociceptors. Supported by an astrocyte feeder layer, SiNW mat promotes DRG neuron and glial cell growth, preserving in vivo‐like cell characteristics and allowing drug‐modulated activity monitoring.

On local and global aspects of the 1:4 resonance in the conservative cubic H\'enon maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We study the 1:4 resonance for the conservative cubic H\'enon maps $\mathbf{C}_\pm$ with positive and negative cubic term. These maps show up different bifurcation structures both for fixed points with eigenvalues $\pm i$ and for 4-periodic orbits. While

A Highly Adaptable Hydrogen Bond Re‐Orientation (HyBRO) Strategy for Multiscale Vasculature Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel hydrogen bond re‐orientation (HyBRO) strategy enables three‐dimensional (3D) printing of vascular microchannel networks with high accuracy. By switching sacrificial material interactions with nonsolvents, HyBRO prevents swelling and deformation, enabling accurate hierarchical channels spanning a tenfold size range.
