Abstract Pitted keratolysis (PK) is a common superficial bacterial skin infection confined to the stratum corneum. It is clinically characterized by multifocal, discrete, pits or crater-like punched-out lesions, commonly over the pressure-bearing aspects of the foot. It is asymptomatic and associated with malodour.

Evaluation of Pitting Corrosion in Duplex Stainless Steel Fe20Cr9ni for Nuclear Power Application
Acta Materialia, 2020A spinodal decomposition is often carried out in the austenite-ferrite duplex stainless steel Fe20Cr9Ni during long-term service at a temperature in the range from 280 to 320°C, resulting in a decrease of pitting corrosion resistance.

Influence of gear surface roughness on the pitting and micropitting life
, 2020Pitting and micropitting are the two main gear rolling contact fatigue modes. It is widely accepted that micropitting will lead to pitting; however, the relationship between pitting and micropitting life needs further investigation.
