Experimental Study on Corrosion of Anchored Rock Mass for Half-Through Intermittent Joints

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
Make crackled mortar test block to simulate jointed rock mass reinforced by anchor bars. Computational model of corrosion penetration at different load times can be obtained by corrosion acceleration through electrochemistry.

The thermal visualisation of latent fingermarks on metallic surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recent published research has lead to improved techniques for recovering latent fingermarks from metallic surfaces. The present study corroborates and extends some of the work carried out by Bond [1], [2] and [3], but an alternative mechanism is proposed

Influence of welding current intensity on pitting corrosion resistance in welded joint of stainless steel X5CrNi18-10

open access: yesZaštita Materijala, 2017
The effect of welding current on the pitting corrosion resistance in the welded joint of austenitic stainless steel X5CrNi18-10 was tested. Welding was carried out using three different current intensity (110 A, 130 A and 150 A).

Geabacter species enhances pit depth on 304L stainless steel in a medium lacking with electron donor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Geobacter sulfurreducens bacteria increased the open circuit potential of 304L stainless steel by around 320 mV in only a few hours after inoculation. This represents a significant increase in the corrosion risk.

Elucidating the effect of titanium alloying on the pitting corrosion of ferritic stainless steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Ferritic stainless steels have been utilized in marine atmosphere and are found to be susceptible to pitting corrosion in our field investigation. Alloying is an important to modify the passive film on the surface and improve the pitting corrosion ...

Contribution of cellular automata to the understanding of corrosion phenomena [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a stochastic CA modelling approach of corrosion based on spatially separated electrochemical half-reactions, diffusion, acido-basic neutralization in solution and passive properties of the oxide layers.

Investigation of Influence of Surface Roughness on Pitting Corrosion of Duplex Stainless Steel 2205 using Various Electrochemical Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
The metastable and stable pitting behaviors on different surface roughness finishes for DSS 2205 stainless steel have been investigated. Surface roughness was analyzed through the adoption of atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Understanding the local pitting corrosion characteristics of carbon steel in CO2 corrosion environment using artificially machined pits

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2022
Carbon steel remains the most commonly used material in CO2 – containing oilfield, and other energy applications. Pitting corrosion is a prominent form of corrosion attack on carbon steel, and linked to the formation of non – protective iron carbonate ...
