Effects of perampanel on bone health in adult patients with epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The objective was to assess the effects of perampanel (PER) on bone metabolism and bone mineral density (BMD) in adult patients with epilepsy. Methods This retrospective study included consecutive patients admitted to the Epilepsy Center of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2023 to June 2024.

DCAN: Deep Contour-Aware Networks for Accurate Gland Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
The morphology of glands has been used routinely by pathologists to assess the malignancy degree of adenocarcinomas. Accurate segmentation of glands from histology images is a crucial step to obtain reliable morphological statistics for quantitative diagnosis.

Rats with physically disconnected hypothalamo-pituitary tracts no longer contain vasopressin-oxytocin gene transcripts in the posterior pituitary lobe [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
In rats, vasopressin- and oxytocin-encoding mRNAs are present in the posterior but absent in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. RNase protection experiments indicate that in the posterior pituitary and hypothalamus identical transcriptional start ...

Research progress on the mechanisms of pain empathy

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This article is related to the graphical research progress of pain empathy, starting with the description of the pain matrix and mirror neurons. Based on the pain matrix and mirror neurons, pain empathy results from the combined action of brain regions such as the anterior cingulate cortex, insula, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala and regulatory ...

Gland Segmentation in Histopathology Images Using Random Forest Guided Boundary Construction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Grading of cancer is important to know the extent of its spread. Prior to grading, segmentation of glandular structures is important. Manual segmentation is a time consuming process and is subject to observer bias. Hence, an automated process is required to segment the gland structures.

Craniovertebral anomalies associated with pituitary gland duplication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: An extremely rare occurrence of the pituitary gland duplication inspired us to examine in detail the accompanying craniovertebral congenital anomalies in a patient involved.

Characterization of tachykinin NK2 receptor in the anterior pituitary gland

open access: yesLife Sciences, 2003
Tachykinins are a family of bioactive peptides that interact with three subtypes of receptors: NK1, NK2 and NK3. Substance P has greater affinity for NK1, and neurokinin A (NKA) for NK2 receptor subtype. Although only NK1 receptor has been characterized in the anterior pituitary gland, some evidence suggests the existence of NK2 receptors in this gland.

Pituitary Adenoma Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Sellar tumors are approximately 10-15% among all intracranial neoplasms. The most common sellar lesion is the pituitary adenoma. Manual segmentation is a time-consuming process that can be shortened by using adequate algorithms. In this contribution, we present a segmentation method for pituitary adenoma.

Studies on oxytocinase activity in human pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Our knowledge of the endocrine functions of the pituitary gland is comparatively recent* Text-books of physiology published in the late 19th century (e.g* Michael Post Text-Book of Physiology, 1891 edition) gave a good histological description of the

A Case of Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma With Concomitant Development of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 That Affected Treatment Progress With Immunotherapy

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hypercalcemia is a poor prognostic factor in advanced cancer. Case Presentation A patient with advanced clear cell renal carcinoma with hypercalcemia was treated with nivolumab+ipilimumab combination therapy. Treatment was discontinued after 4 months due to renal dysfunction.
