Coated vesicles in the rat anterior pituitary gland
Acta Histochemica, 1978Ultrastructural documentation of the formation of coated vesicles in prolactin cells of the rat anterior pituitary gland is presented. Coated vesicles were observed forming from the secretory granular membrane in the Golgi area and between the Golgi complex and the plasmalemma. They were also found budding off the membrane lining the exocytotic pocket.

Acetylcholine Receptors in the Rat Anterior Pituitary Gland*
Endocrinology, 1980The muscarinic antagonist [3H]quinuclidinyl benzilate (QNB) was used to study muscarinic cholinergic binding sites in a crude membrane fraction prepared from the rat anterior pituitary gland. Specific [3H]QNB binding is saturable with a Kd of 16 pM and a receptor concentration of 46 fmol/mg protein.

Histological Observations on the Anterior Pituitary Gland
Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1943In recent years rapid progress has been made in the investigation of the endocrine glands with special emphasis being placed on the anterior pituitary. Much of the progress in the interpretation of the functions of this gland has been made since 1934 and practical applications of this information are being used every day.

Discovery of the luteinizing hormone of the anterior pituitary gland
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2004This essay looks at the historical significance of an APS classic paper that is freely available online: Fevold HL, Hisaw FL, Leonard SL. The gonad stimulating and the luteinizing hormones of the anterior lobe of the hypophesis. Am J Physiol 97: 291—301, 1931 ( http://ajplegacy.physiology.org/cgi/reprint/97/2/291 ).

Electron microscopic observations of the anterior pituitary gland
Tissue and Cell, 2008Since [Westlud, K.N., Chils, G.V., 1982. Localization of serotonin fibers in the rat adenohypophysis. Endocrinology 111, 1761-1763] initially identified the serotonin nerve fibers in the anterior pituitary gland, attention has been paid to the rostral zone of the anterior lobe into which nerve fibers enter and subsequently spread to deeper regions of ...

Anterior pituitary gland in pregnancy: hyperintensity at MR.
Radiology, 1993The authors obtained midline sagittal T1-weighted magnetic resonance images of the pituitary gland in 30 female patients: five pregnant; two postpartum; and 23 nonpregnant, of childbearing age, and without evidence of pituitary gland disorder. In pregnant and postpartum patients, the relative signal intensity of the anterior lobe compared with the pons

[15] Separation of cells from the rat anterior pituitary gland
1983Various techniques for separating the hormone-producing cell types from the rat anterior pituitary gland are examined. The purity, viability, and responsiveness of the separated cells depend on the physiological state of the donor, the tissue dissociation procedures, the staining technique used for identification of cell type, and the cell separation ...
