Inside the head of Crotalus durissus LINNAEUS, 1758 (Serpentes, Viperidae, Crotalinae): Macroscopic description of the brain with ontogenetic insights

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Neuroanatomy studies in vertebrates have garnered significant attention in recent years, particularly driven by advancements in computerized tomography imaging techniques. Nonetheless, these advancements remain largely constrained to specific vertebrate groups, notably mammals, birds, and fish, leaving studies in reptiles at an incipient stage.

Growth Hormone Promotes Lipolysis and Impairs Insulin Sensitivity by Activating the ERK/HSL Signaling Pathway in Bovine Adipocytes

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study was to evaluate the role of GH in lipolysis and insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes and clarify the underlying mechanism. Our findings demonstrate that GH activates ERK/HSL signaling pathway, promotes lipolysis, and impairs insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes.

Impact of seborrheic dermatitis on osteoporosis risk: A population‐based cohort study

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, Volume 49, Issue 12, Page 1291-1298, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Osteoporosis is a systemic bone‐resorbing disease that easily causes subsequent risk of fracture. Hence, the substantial physical burden of osteoporosis makes it an important public health issue. Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease.

Gland Segmentation Via Dual Encoders and Boundary-Enhanced Attention [PDF]

open access: yesICASSP 2024 - 2024 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), Seoul, Korea, Republic of, 2024, pp. 2345-2349,
Accurate and automated gland segmentation on pathological images can assist pathologists in diagnosing the malignancy of colorectal adenocarcinoma. However, due to various gland shapes, severe deformation of malignant glands, and overlapping adhesions between glands. Gland segmentation has always been very challenging.

Transforming Growth Factor-α Expression in the Anterior Pituitary Gland: Regulation by Epidermal Growth Factor and Phorbol Ester in Dispersed Cells

open access: yes, 1989
We have previously reported the immunohistochemical localization of transforming growth factor-α (TGFα) in the intact bovine anterior pituitary gland. Furthermore, we have purified TGFα from the conditioned medium of cell cultures derived from the bovine

Stimulation of adenosine 3':5'-cyclic monophosphate accumulation in anterior pituitary gland in vitro by synthetic luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1972
A near-maximal dose (20 ng/ml) of synthetic luteinizing hormone(LH)-releasing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)-releasing hormone added to incubated anterior pituitary tissue of male rats leads to concomitant increases of intracellular ...

Cytochrome P450 CYP3A5 in the human anterior pituitary gland [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1995
The cytochromes P450 are a key group of enzymes involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and several biologically active endogenous compounds. The expression of CYP3A5 has been identified by reverse transcriptase‐polymerase chain reaction in human pituitary gland and shown by immunohistochemistry to be localized to growth hormone containing cells of ...

Oral paltusotine, a nonpeptide selective somatostatin receptor 2 agonist: Mass balance, absolute bioavailability and metabolism in healthy participants

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Paltusotine is a novel, nonpeptide, selective somatostatin receptor 2 agonist in development for the treatment of acromegaly and carcinoid syndrome. This study investigated the mass balance, routes of excretion, absolute bioavailability and metabolite profile of orally administered paltusotine.

Deciphering the skeletal interoceptive circuitry to control bone homeostasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review introduces the skeletal interoceptive circuitry, covering the ascending signals from bone tissues to the brain (sensors), the central neural circuits that integrate this information and dispatch commands (CPU), and the descending pathways that regulate bone homeostasis (effectors).
