Eosinophil Peroxidase as a Dynamic Indicator of Treatment Response in Eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Eosinophil peroxidase (EPX) in nasal mucus correlates with markers of type 2 inflammation and tissue eosinophilia in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). This study evaluated EPX as a dynamic biomarker across treatment modalities and its potential prognostic value in eosinophilic CRS.

Proteomic Analysis of the Human Anterior Pituitary Gland [PDF]

open access: yesOMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology, 2018
The pituitary function is regulated by a complex system involving the hypothalamus and biological networks within the pituitary. Although the hormones secreted from the pituitary have been well studied, comprehensive analyses of the pituitary proteome are limited.

Disruption of ovarian function and induction of apoptosis in female mice by Brefeldin A: Mechanistic insights into reproductive toxicity

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Brefeldin A (BFA) significantly inhibits oocyte release and induces apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells by disrupting follicular development. It downregulates proliferation‐associated genes, reduces SIRT1/SIRT6 proteins, and upregulates cell cycle inhibitors P21 and P16. Additionally, BFA impairs estrogen synthesis and affects ovarian function through

Conditional inactivation of the Men1 gene leads to pancreatic and pituitary tumorigenesis but does not affect normal development of these tissues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Mutations of the MEN1 gene, encoding the tumor suppressor menin, predispose individuals to the cancer syndrome multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1, characterized by the development of tumors of the endocrine pancreas and anterior pituitary and ...

Bioimaging of sense organs and the central nervous system in extant fishes and reptiles in situ: A review

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Bioimaging of the sense organs and brain of fishes and reptiles. Left panel: 3D reconstruction of the head and brain of the deep‐sea viperfish Chauliodus sloani following diceCT. Right panel: A 3D reconstruction of a 70‐day‐old embryo head of the bearded dragon Pogona vitticeps following diceCT, showing the position of the segmented brain within the ...

Impact of One-Week Administration of Dihydrotestosterone in Rat Anterior Pituitary Gland

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2022
Hyperandrogenism causes dysfunction of the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis in reproductive women. In this study, we examined the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on characteristic changes in rat anterior pituitary gland samples.

Neuroanatomical diversity in Teleocichla with new volumetric and histological insights into the encephalon of Teleocichla monogramma Kullander 1988

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Teleocichla comprises small cichlids that inhabit the rapid streams of Amazonian rivers; however, there has been limited research on their encephalon morphology. This study examined the neuroanatomy of four species, focusing on volumetric measurements of their encephalon subregions, and providing a histological description of the encephalon of

Growth Hormone Promotes Lipolysis and Impairs Insulin Sensitivity by Activating the ERK/HSL Signaling Pathway in Bovine Adipocytes

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study was to evaluate the role of GH in lipolysis and insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes and clarify the underlying mechanism. Our findings demonstrate that GH activates ERK/HSL signaling pathway, promotes lipolysis, and impairs insulin sensitivity in bovine adipocytes.
