Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1983
AbstractExperimental breeding of Pityogenes chalcographus L. in different conifersWhen Pityogenes chalcographus L. (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) is experimentally inoculated to different conifer species, its ability for using these kinds of brood material varies according to the genetical status of the insect population.

Physiology of cold tolerance in the bark beetle, Pityogenes chalcographus and its overwintering in spruce stands

Journal of Insect Physiology, 2014
The seasonal development of physiological features underlying gradual acquisition of relatively high cold tolerance in overwintering adults of the bark beetles, Pityogenes chalcographus was described. Prior to overwintering, the beetles accumulated carbohydrate reserves in the form of glycogen and trehalose.
