PTDB : Pitzer Thermochemical Database
2020This thermochemical database is prepared by BRGM (French geological survey, https://www.brgm.fr). It is adapted to the PHREESCALE software (Lach et al., 2016) and is regularly updated. It is devoted to highly saline systems, up to salts solubility, elevated temperatures (for each chemical system, limits are indicated in the database) and pressures.

Pitzer and Pitzer–Simonson–Clegg modeling approaches: Ternary HCl+ethanol+water electrolyte system
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2009Despite its success for modeling electrolyte thermodynamics in aqueous media, the use of the Pitzer approach for the investigation of electrolytes in nonaqueous or in mixed solvent media is still very limited. Further, a review of the literature reveals that there are no more than a few research groups who have used the exact form of the Pitzer ...

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 2010
Abstract A survey of literature reveals that the use of Pitzer approach for modeling electrolyte in nonaqueous or in mixed solvent media is still very scarce. Moreover, only two research groups have used the exact and complete form of the more refined Pitzer–Simonson–Clegg (PSC) ion-interaction approach for the investigation of electrolyte in mixed ...

Abstract Clegg–Pitzer–Brimblecombe ion-interaction semi-empirical approach was rarely exploited for modeling electrolyte, particularly, in mixed solvent systems. Indeed, a review of the literature shows that the use of an exact and complete form of this model (PSC) was only limited to the works of two research groups for the investigation of ...

Correlation of pitzer ion interaction parameters
Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1991A new correlation predicting the activity coefficients of aqueous electrolyte solutions between Pitzer ion interaction parameters and ionc properties (ionic charge, radius and entropy) is developed. The substances include uni-uni and uni-bi type of single salts for which data are available.

pH buffer assessment and Pitzer’s equations
Accreditation and Quality Assurance, 2011Traceable measurement of the quantity pH in media outside the limits of the recent IUPAC recommendation requires an alternative to the Bates–Guggenheim convention. The Pitzer’s approach to ion interactions is widely appraised and offers a suitable approach to the estimation of single-ion activity coefficients.

Activity coefficients of NaCl were determined in water–ethanol solvents, in the range 5–20% (w/w) ethanol, from emf data. The molalities varied from 0.1 mol-kg−1 to near saturation and measurements were taken in the temperature range 25–50°C. The Pitzer model was used to describe the nonideal behavior of the electrolyte and the corresponding ...
