Efficient Process Development for Laser Powder Bed Fusion of a Soft‐Magnetic Metallic Glass Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Iron‐based metallic glass alloys exhibit excellent soft‐magnetic properties, and unprecedented geometrical freedom in the design of soft‐magnetic metallic glass components is made possible by additive manufacturing. An efficient workflow for developing parameters for laser‐based powder bed fusion of a Fe‐based metallic glass alloy is presented along ...

Programmable remapper for image processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A video-rate coordinate remapper includes a memory for storing a plurality of transformations on look-up tables for remapping input images from one coordinate system to another. Such transformations are operator selectable.

Gas pixel detectors

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2007
Abstract With the Gas Pixel Detector (GPD), the class of micro-pattern gas detectors has reached a complete integration between the gas amplification structure and the read-out electronics. To obtain this goal, three generations of application-specific integrated circuit of increased complexity and improved functionality has been designed and ...

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Manufacturing Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Printing Filaments: Development of a Post‐Consolidation Unit

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, temperature‐controlled post‐consolidation unit is developed to test its potential to improve the melt impregnation process used to manufacture continuous fiber‐reinforced filaments for additive manufacturing of high‐performance thermoplastics.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Genetic improvement of variety pattern chromatic Half BlackBlue or Diamond of ornamental fish Guppy (Poecilia reticulata; Peters, 1859) through mass selection

open access: yesScientia Agropecuaria, 2011
This article provides a standard computerized digitized based on the number of pixels. They found eight characteristic blue color tones in both the body and dorsal fin to be used in the potential for mass selection breeding color pattern of the ...

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Precise hexagonal pixel modeling and an easy-sharing storage scheme for remote sensing images based on discrete global grid system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth
Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGSs) are an emerging Earth reference model that support the integration and analysis of remote sensing (RS) data. Grid modeling, sampling, quantization, and storage are the key points and difficulties of DGGS.
