Disentangling seed availability and establishment filters at alpine treelines through a decade‐long field manipulation

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 12, Page 3830-3844, December 2025.
Treeline advance under warming occurs only when multiple filters align—adequate seed supply, favourable microclimatic windows, moderated herbivory and shrub effects that remain facilitative rather than competitive. Abstract Climate warming is expected to increase upslope shifts of alpine treelines globally.

Habitat Conditions and Neighborhood Interactions Drive the Phylogenetic Structure of Seedling Assemblages in a Tropical Forest Mosaic

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
In poor, well‐drained sandy soils, we observed the coexistence of more closely related species, suggesting that shared evolutionary history influences which seedlings survive under these restrictive conditions. Contrary to expectations, flooded areas harbored more distantly related species, likely because pathogens and other natural enemies limit the ...

Estrutura populacional de regenerantes de Copaíba (Copaifera langsdorffii Desf.) em mata ciliar do Distrito Federal Copaiba (Copaifera langsdorfii Desf.) seedlings and sampling population structure of gallery forest at Federal District

How do drought and elevated temperatures influence CO2 fertilization effects on tree seedling performance? A global meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 10, Page 2875-2888, October 2025.
These results suggest that the fertilization effect of CO2 at the seedling stage may be limited when additional environmental stressors, such as drought, are present. The combined effect of drought, temperature and CO2 mainly resulted in additive effects, where each stressor independently influences plant performance rather than interacting to amplify ...

Atração e desenvolvimento de Leptoglossus gonagra (Fabr.) (Hemiptera: Coreidae) em cultivares de abóbora e moranga

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2002
As plantas da família Cucurbitaceae são seriamente prejudicadas pelo ataque de insetos, sendo que os danos ocorrem desde a germinação até a colheita e podem ser observados em todas as partes da planta.

Management of slips and its effect on growth and production of 'Pérola' pineapple plants Manejo de mudas na ceva e seu efeito sobre o crescimento e produção do abacaxizeiro 'Pérola'

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2003
The lack of good quality planting material has limited the expansion and contributed to yield reduction of the Brazilian pineapple culture. Alternatives of 'Pérola' pineapple slips management were studied aiming at obtaining superior planting material ...

Above‐ground competition by Nephrolepis brownii inhibits tree seedling recruitment in a tropical restoration experiment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 8, Page 1968-1979, August 2025.
As Nephrolepis brownii primarily interferes through above‐ground competition, management of above‐ground tissues may mitigate its impact. However, additional research on the efficacy of this management strategy and potential allelopathic traits is needed.

The Rapid Recovery of a Caatinga Dry Forest is Mediated by Disturbance‐Adapted Species

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 4, July 2025.
Overall, regenerating and old‐growth forest stands exhibited similar plant diversity across all ontogenetic stages, with a negligible role played by forest stand age, precipitation, and chronic human disturbance. Species exclusively recorded as adults or seeds were mostly dispersed by animals, indicating that several species fail in either dispersing ...

Evaluation of substrates on the emergence of "araticum-de-terra-fria" (Annona emarginata (Schltdl.) H. Rainer) Seedlings

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2011
Choosing a substrate is the determinant factor for the seedling producer; thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different types of substrates on the emergence of "araticum-de-terra-fria" (Annona emarginata (Schltdl.) H.
