Synthesis and Study of Chemical, Thermal, Mesomorphic, and Optical Properties of Terphenyls Modified with Nitrile Groups

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2017
We report the synthesis, characterization, and the thermotropic and photoluminescence properties of dialkoxyterphenyls with (T12-CN and T12-2CN) and without (T12) nitrile groups.

On piecewise linear cell decompositions

open access: yes, 2011
In this note, we introduce a class of cell decompositions of PL manifolds and polyhedra which are more general than triangulations yet not as general as CW complexes; we propose calling them PLCW complexes.

Comparative evolutionary diversity and phylogenetic structure across multiple forest dynamics plots: a mega-phylogeny approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2014
Forest dynamics plots, which now span longitudes, latitudes, and habitat types across the globe, offer unparalleled insights into the ecological and evolutionary processes that determine how species are assembled into communities.

Simplicial blowups and discrete normal surfaces in simpcomp

open access: yes, 2011
simpcomp is an extension to GAP, the well known system for computational discrete algebra. It allows the user to work with simplicial complexes. In the latest version, support for simplicial blowups and discrete normal surfaces was added, both features ...

On branched covering representation of 4-manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We provide new branched covering representations for bounded and/or non-compact 4-manifolds, which extend the known ones for closed 4-manifolds. Assuming $M$ to be a connected oriented PL 4-manifold, our main results are the following: (1) if $M$ is ...

Parallel Eclipse-Aware Routing on FPGA for SpaceWire-Based OBC in LEO Satellite Networks

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks deliver superior real-time performance and responsiveness compared to conventional satellite networks, despite technical and economic challenges such as high deployment costs and operational complexity ...

The triangulation of manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A mostly expository account of old questions about the relationship between polyhedra and topological manifolds. Topics are old topological results, new gauge theory results (with speculations about next directions), and history of the questions.Comment:

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Photoluminescent behavior and structural analysis of SnO layers formed by laser-induced oxidation

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials
We develop a rapid and spatially controlled formation method of a smooth polycrystalline SnO film preventing the transition to a more stable SnO2 phase.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.
