Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Stereocomplex formation in ABA triblock copolymers of poly(lactide) (A) and poly(ethylene glycol) (B) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Two series of triblock copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG, number-average molecular weight [bar M ]n = 6000) and poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) or poly(D-lactide) (PDLA) were prepared by ring-opening polymerization of lactide initiated by PEG end groups ...

A Modular Bioinstructive Platform Reveals Mechanistic Insights into Additive‐Free, Topography‐Driven Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered microparticle topographies direct human mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis without biochemical additives. This osteogenic commitment is driven by canonical Hedgehog signaling and followed by temporal IGF‐II engagement. Two‐photon polymerization demonstrates spatial control, enabling the engineering of topographical gradients that pattern ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Biodegradable Polylactic Acid (PLA) Microstructures for Scaffold Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this research, we present a simple and cost effective soft lithographic process to fabricate PLA scaffolds for tissue engineering. In which, the negative photoresist JSR THB-120N was spun on a glass subtract followed by conventional UV lithographic ...

Copolymers of Poly(Butylene Trans‐1,4‐Cyclohexanedicarboxylate)/Pripol as New Biomaterial Platform for Small Diameter Vascular Graft

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospun tubular scaffolds from novel PBCE‐based copolyesters and blends were designed as candidates for small‐diameter vascular grafts. They combine defect‐free architecture, blood‐compatible surfaces, and mechanical properties comparable to native vessels.

Numerical study of impact energy absorption of auxetic structure [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
3D printing technologies have helped researchers fabricate cellular structures and have lightweight and desirable mechanical properties. One such structure is called “auxetic” structures. “Auxetics” is the term used for structures that exhibit a negative

Hydrothermally extracted nanohydroxyapatite from bovine bone as bioceramic and biofiller in bionanocomposite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Bones have an extraordinary capacity to restore and regenerate in case of minor injury. However, major injuries need orthopedic surgeries that required bone implant biomaterials.

Polylactic acid-nanocrystalline carbonated hydroxyapatite (PLA-cHAP) composite: preparation and surface topographical structuring with direct laser writing (DLW)

open access: yes, 2016
The fabrication of polylactic acid (PLA)-carbonated hydroxyapatite (cHAP) composite material from synthesised phase pure nano-cHAP and melted PLA by mechanical mixing at 220-235{\deg}C has been developed in this study.
