Coupling Interfacial Redox‐Reactions with In Situ Proton Generation for the Photoelectrochemical Separation of Rare‐Earth Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance the sustainability of electrochemical separations for resource recovery, a photoelectrochemical ion recovery system is developed that utilizes renewable solar energy. A composite integrating titianium dioxide nanorods and a redox‐copolymer enables spontaneous cation adsorption and light‐activated redox reactions for regeneration, thus ...

Black and white relations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The roughly ten million Africans transported forcibly to the Americas between 1500 and 1850 were thrust headlong into a bewildering variety of different environments. Some cleared the jungles of South America, others grew sugar on small Caribbean islands,

Eco‐Fabricated Nanowave‐Textured Implants Drive Microtubule‐Assisted Nuclear Mechanotransduction and Chromatin Modification: Biophysical Priming for Osteogenesis and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Eco‐friendly nanowave‐textured implants produced via femtosecond laser fabrication enhance bone regeneration by orchestrating a precise mechanotransduction cascade. This nanotopography directs mesenchymal stem cell alignment and cytoskeletal organization, triggering changes in nuclear shape and chromatin acetylation that prime cells for osteogenesis ...

El lugar y el papel de la Or ganización del Tratado de Cooperación Amazónica (OTCA) en la geopolítica brasileña y sudamericana - The place and role of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) in the geopolitics of South America and Brazil

open access: yesBelvedere Meridionale, 2014
The geopolitics is a teory evolved in the beginning of the 20th century, part of the political geography that examines the international relations and makes scientific investigations about relationships of the countries. South America is one of the most important geopolitical zones of the World. In its future it will be very important how the countries

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...

Self‐Powered Real‐Time Temperature Sensing Based on Flexible Ionic Elastomer on Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐powered real‐time ionic TENG temperature sensing system for flexible thermal management with high and real‐time temperature monitoring. Ionic liquids and elastomer chains are investigated under temperature via electrochemical and physical analysis, resulting in enhancing thermal sensitivity and output performance on TENG ...

Embedded 3D‐Coaxial Bioprinting of Stenotic Brain Vessels with a Mechanically Enhanced Extracellular Matrix Bioink for Investigating Hemodynamic Force‐Induced Endothelial Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a physically enhanced vascular dECM bioink and used 3D‐coaxial bioprinting are developed to fabricate mature brain blood vessels for cerebral atherosclerosis research. This model demonstrates that vascular geometry‐induced hemodynamic changes trigger vascular inflammation, ensuring its potential for cerebrovascular research.
