Use of routine ureteral stents in cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate benefits of use of ureteral stents in association with cesarean hysterectomy in case of placenta accreta. METHODS: This was a single center, cohort study.

Cesarean scar defects and placental abnormalities – a 3 year survey study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The placenta is an essential organ for embryonic and fetal development, ensuring nutrient uptake, gas exchange (via the mother\u27s blood supply), waste elimination, thermo-regulation, immunological and hormonal factors, etc.

Identification of altered miRNAs and their targets in placenta accreta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is one of the major causes of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide with increasing incidence. PAS refers to a group of pathological conditions ranging from the abnormal attachment of the placenta to the uterus wall ...

Maternal Characteristics and Histopathological Features of Placenta Accreta Spectrum in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung, Period 2015–2020 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background: The placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) incidence has inclined today. The PAS is divided into three histopathological classifications, including accreta, increta, and percreta, associated with maternal, fetal morbidity, and mortality.

Analytical theory of oxygen transfer in the human placenta [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Theor. Biol. 368 (2015), 133-44, 2014
We propose an analytical approach to solving the diffusion-convection equations governing oxygen transport in the human placenta. We show that only two geometrical characteristics of a placental cross-section, villi density and the effective villi radius, are needed to predict fetal oxygen uptake.

Management of unexpected placenta accreta spectrum cases in resource-poor settingsAJOG Global Reports at a Glance

open access: yesAJOG Global Reports, 2023
BACKGROUND: On a global scale, cases of placenta accreta spectrum are often just identified during cesarean delivery because they are missed during antenatal care screening.

Placenta Segmentation in Ultrasound Imaging: Addressing Sources of Uncertainty and Limited Field-of-View [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Automatic segmentation of the placenta in fetal ultrasound (US) is challenging due to the (i) high diversity of placenta appearance, (ii) the restricted quality in US resulting in highly variable reference annotations, and (iii) the limited field-of-view of US prohibiting whole placenta assessment at late gestation. In this work, we address these three

Utility of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging in prenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta: A prospective study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2015
Context: Placenta accreta is the abnormal adherence of the placenta to the uterine wall and the most common cause for emergency postpartum hysterectomy. Accurate prenatal diagnosis of affected pregnancies allows optimal obstetric management.

Volumetric Parameterization of the Placenta to a Flattened Template [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We present a volumetric mesh-based algorithm for parameterizing the placenta to a flattened template to enable effective visualization of local anatomy and function. MRI shows potential as a research tool as it provides signals directly related to placental function.

Uterine sparing approaches in management of placenta accreta: a summarized review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Placenta accreta is a potentially life-threatening obstetric condition that required multidisciplinary approach to management. Placenta accreta occurs in complete absence of the decidua basalis.
