The uterine scar dilemma: Outcomes of a restricted elective repeat cesarean section policy in a high‐fertility, resource‐limited setting

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1717-1730, September 2026.
Women with one previous cesarean section and spontaneous labor had the most favorable outcomes in this high‐fertility, resource‐limited setting. Reducing unnecessary elective repeat cesarean section , together with careful decisions regarding primary cesarean section, is not only about lowering cesarean rates but about minimizing cumulative maternal ...

Home telemonitoring in high‐risk pregnancies: A Finnish retrospective cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1689-1697, September 2026.
This retrospective study suggests that home telemonitoring may provide an acceptable approach for managing selected high‐risk pregnancies. Safe and effective implementation requires careful patient selection and adherence to evidence‐based clinical protocols.

Routine screening for placenta accreta spectrum

open access: yesBest Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2023
Screening for clinically significant placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is possible with a high degree of accuracy (both sensitivity and specificity >90-95%). The group of women to focus on are those with placenta previa and one or more prior Cesarean deliveries. Screening for PAS not associated with placenta previa is not as productive, and several false

Placental crises: disruptive selection and maternal under‐investment as the foundations of mammalian placental evolution and dysfunction

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1627-1640, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Among the vertebrates, mammals are notable for the dominance of live birth and placental nutrition. The structural diversity of the mammalian placenta is remarkable, despite sharing a single common ancestor and conserved physiological functions.

Optimal Treatment Selection for Cesarean Scar Pregnancy: Using a Predictive Score of Intraoperative Blood Loss: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The significant risk associated with treatment for cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) is the potential for severe hemorrhage at termination, resulting in controversy over optimal treatment and no international standards. Our previous study proposed that estimating intraoperative blood loss from ultrasound findings, called ...

Placental basal plate with attached myofibers and adverse pregnancy outcomes: A systematic scoping review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 8, Page 1435-1444, August 2026.
The presence of basal plate myometrial fibers was associated with higher rates of placenta‐related pregnancy disorders and abnormal placental attachment in subsequent pregnancies, but heterogeneity in the data was found due to variable inclusion criteria, sampling methods, and reported outcomes.

Outcomes of subsequent pregnancies following modified one-step conservative uterine surgery (MOSCUS) in the management of placenta accreta spectrum: Two case reports and a narrative review of the literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Women's Health
