A New Graph Node Classification Benchmark: Learning Structure from Histology Cell Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We introduce a new benchmark dataset, Placenta, for node classification in an underexplored domain: predicting microanatomical tissue structures from cell graphs in placenta histology whole slide images. This problem is uniquely challenging for graph learning for a few reasons.

Type 3 vasa previa with no low-lying placenta, with central umbilical cord insertion at the upper uterine segment, and with aberrant vessels on the broad membrane: A case report

open access: yesCase Reports in Women's Health, 2023
Type 3 vasa previa is a new concept. Herein, a case is reported of a 35-year-old woman, pregnant following in vitro fertilization, in whom vasa previa was detected on color Doppler ultrasound at 26 weeks, with no finding of a low-lying placenta.

Placenta previa; MRI as an adjunct to ultrasound in assessment of suspected placental invasion

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2018
Objective: Evaluate adding MRI to ultrasound in imaging of placenta previa with suspected placenta accreta. Patients and methods: evaluation of 23 pregnant females presenting with placenta previa was done. The age ranged from 20 to 39 years (mean = 30.9).

Neurodevelopmental Outcomes of Very Low Birth Weight Infants Following Extrauterine Placental Perfusion: A Follow‐Up Study

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Extrauterine placental perfusion (EPP) may be a feasible cord clamping strategy in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants to support neonatal transition. However, the impact of EPP on neurodevelopment remains unclear. The study aimed to compare the effects of EPP with time‐based delayed cord clamping (DCC) on neurodevelopmental outcomes ...

Racial Disparities in Nulliparous Singleton Term Vertex Cesarean Deliveries: Rates, Reasons, and Time to Delivery

open access: yesBirth, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐Hispanic Black individuals have the highest odds of having a nulliparous term singleton vertex (NTSV) cesarean birth out of all racial and ethnic groups, but this disparity is not well understood. This study assesses the factors associated with overall rates of NTSV cesarean delivery, differences in reasons for cesarean births ...

Placental Flattening via Volumetric Parameterization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present a volumetric mesh-based algorithm for flattening the placenta to a canonical template to enable effective visualization of local anatomy and function. Monitoring placental function in vivo promises to support pregnancy assessment and to improve care outcomes.

Risk stratification during antenatal care failed to identify most mothers who experienced adverse pregnancy outcomes: A prospective study from Kakamega County, Kenya

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Risk stratification of pregnancies informs clinical care globally. Yet recent research has cast doubt on the ability of currently used population‐level risk measures to accurately predict poor outcomes at the individual level. We examine the assumption that existing forms of risk stratification can successfully identify women ...

Deformable Slice-to-Volume Registration for Motion Correction in Fetal Body MRI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In in-utero MRI, motion correction for fetal body and placenta poses a particular challenge due to the presence of local non-rigid transformations of organs caused by bending and stretching. The existing slice-to-volume registration (SVR) reconstruction methods are widely employed for motion correction of fetal brain that undergoes only rigid ...
