Contaminant Removal and Precious Metal Recovery by Lateral Channel Filtration in Mining-Impacted Alluvial Floodplains

open access: yesFrontiers in Water, 2020
Water quality impacts from artisanal and small-scale alluvial (placer) gold mining operations occur in developing economies across several continents including Asia, Africa, and South America.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Application of hydrocyclones for recovery of fine gold from placer material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Alaska and other gold areas have seen a sharp resurgence of placer mining in the last few years. Mines using sluice boxes usually recover gold down to 100 mesh, but recovery of gold finer than this size is a function of particle shape factor, sluice box ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Study of a static screen, jig, spiral, and a compound water cyclone in a placer gold recovery plant [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
During the 1986 mining season both laboratory and field test work were conducted to study the performance efficiencies of a wedge-wire static screen, a Pan-American jig, a Reichert Mark VII spiral, and a 12" compound water cyclone.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Paleo-channels Of Singkawang Waters West Kalimantan And Its Relation To The Occurrences Of Sub-seabottom Gold Placers Based On Strata Box Seismic Record Analyses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Strata box seismic records were used to analyze sub-seabottom paleochannels in Singkawang Waters, West Kalimantan. Based on the analyses, it can be identified the distribution and patterns of paleochannels.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

The Quantitve Measurement of Amalgamation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1940
Mercury has been known since ancient times. In fact, one mine, the Almaden in Spain, has been worked continuously since Roman times. It has been used during all this time for the recovery of free gold from gold concentrates, and from black sand and ...
