The Life History of Plagitura salamandra Holl, 1928 (Trematoda: Plagiorchiidae)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1946
This work was undertaken with the idea of throwing some light on the validity of the two species of Plagitura, P. salamandra Holl, 1928, and P. parva Stunkard, 1933, occurring in the intestine of the newt, Triturus viridescens. The genus, Plagitura, was erected by Holl (1928) to contain a species of trematode found by him near Durham, North Carolina ...

ALLOGLOSSIDIUM HIRUDICOLA SP. N., A NEOTENIC TREMATODE (PLAGIORCHIIDAE) FROM LEECHES, HAEMOPIS SP

Journal of Parasitology, 1969
Alloglossidium hirudicola sp. n. is described from adult specimens recovered from the ceca of leeches, Haemopis sp., purchased from a commercial source. It differs from A. corti (Lamont, 1921) Van Cleave and Mueller, 1934, and from A. geminus (Mueller, 1930) Van Cleave and Mueller, 1934, in having shorter ceca, smaller cirrus pouch, and in distribution

Plagiorchoides potamonides (Plagiorchiidae), a New Trematode Found in Experimental Rats

The Journal of Parasitology, 1946
In the course of a study on the life cycle of the mammalian lung fluke (Paragonimus), the meat of some fresh-water crabs, Potamon (Potamon) sp., collected in Naga, Camarines Sur, Luzon, in July, 1941, and found harboring encysted Paragonimus metacercariae, was fed to six white laboratory rats.

Note on the feeding habits of Opisthogonimus lecithonotus (Trematoda, Digenea, Plagiorchiidae)

Parasitology Research, 2004
The presence of snake's blood inside the alimentary canal of the species Opisthogonimus lecithonotus (Trematoda, Digenea, Plagiorchiidae) collected from the mouth of Bothrops moojeni (Serpentes, Viperidae) is reported. The implications of this observation to the host snake are discussed.

NEW SPECIES OF HAPLOMETROIDES (DIGENEA: PLAGIORCHIIDAE) FROM PHALOTRIS NASUTUS (GOMES, 1915) (SERPENTES, COLUBRIDAE)

Journal of Parasitology, 2007
A new species of Haplometroides (Digenea, Plagiorchiidae) is described from a specimen of Phalotris nasutus (Gomes, 1915) (Serpentes, Colubridae). The host snake was obtained in the municipality of Corumbd, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Trematodes were recovered from esophagus, stomach, and small intestine of the host.

Plagitura intermedia sp. n. (Trematoda : Plagiorchiidae) from the Common Newt, Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens

The Journal of Parasitology, 1965
Plagitura intermedia sp. n., a new plagiorchiid trematode, is described from the common newt, Notophthalmus v. viridescens, collected in Bear Lake, Shawnee State Park, Ohio. In general arrangement of the gonads, P. intermedia is similar to P. parva, the smaller of the two previously named species, but three to four times larger in size.

The chetotaxy of the cercaria ofOpisthioglyphe locellus Kossack 1910 (Trematoda, Plagiorchiidae)

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde Parasitology Research, 1982
The distribution of the tegumentary papillae (chetotaxy) was studied for the cercaria of Opisthioglyphe locellus. The cercariae, which emerge from the freshwater snail Planorbarius corneus L., were treated according to the method of Ginecinskaja and Dobrovol'skij (1963). The papillae were demonstrated after the nomenclature of Richard (1971).

Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of the digenean Plagiorchis elegans (Rudolphi, 1802) (Plagiorchioidea, Plagiorchiidae)

Journal of Morphology, 2013
ABSTRACTThe ultrastructure of the mature spermatozoon of the type genus of the Plagiorchiidae Plagiorchis elegans (Rudolphi, 1802), a parasite of the Golden hamster, Mesocricetus auratus is described. This study is the first ultrastructural study of the spermatozoon of a Plagiorchis, the second of a plagiorchiid species and only the third in the ...

Description and Life Cycle of Glypthelmins hyloreus sp. n. (Digenea: Plagiorchiidae)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1969
Adults live in the intestine of the Pacific tree frog, Hyla regilla. Sporocysts in the pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis, produce gymnocephalous cercariae with continuous dorsal and ventral caudal fins. Cercariae escape the snail, enter H. regilla tadpoles via the nares, and reach the coelom. There they develop as motile unencysted metacercariae which then
