An assessment of post-plague reintroduced native white-clawed crayfish, a Ustropotamobius pallipes, in the Sherston Avon and Tetbury Avon, Wiltshire [PDF]
This article reports on the success of reintroducing native crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) in the Sherston and Tetbury Avon, following extinction of the population from crayfish plague.

We demonstrate successful fabrication of high‐quality α‐Sn/β‐Sn planar nanostructures with arbitrary shapes by focused laser irradiation on topological Dirac semimetal α‐Sn thin films. The irradiated regions transform into atomically smooth, superconducting β‐Sn with a critical temperature of 3.7 K.

. In wiggler samples as well as in imago ones detected are WNF virus markers, which indicate the possibility of transovarial and trans-phase transmission of virus into mosquito populations, habitant in urbanized biocoenoses.

Significance While our knowledge of modern plague reservoirs and their hosts is extensive, we have little to no knowledge about the origin of the Medieval plague pandemics or the routes of transmission involved in their spread. Prior genomic data provide

Control of Covalent Bond Enables Efficient Magnetic Cooling
Giant and reversible magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is achieved by tuning covalency through sub‐unit‐cell chemical engineering, establishing a novel design principle for effective hysteresis control in magnetocaloric materials. Abstract Magnetic cooling, harnessing the temperature change in matter when exposed to a magnetic field, presents an energy ...
