Pulmonary Disease from Biological Agents: Anthrax, Plague, Q Fever, and Tularemia
Critical Care Clinics, 2005Anthrax, plague, Q fever, and tularemia are all potential inhalational bioterrorism agents. The pulmonary manifestations of these agents can be readily confused with each other as well as other more common diseases such as influenza and atypical pneumonia.

Molecular mechanisms of interactions of plague causative agents with invertebrates
Molecular Genetics, Microbiology and Virology, 2009The review compiles literature data along with the results of original experimental studies of the molecular bases of interactions of plague causative agent with invertebrates. Data on the life cycle of plague causative agent, the organization of its genome, and molecular genetic mechanisms of its survival in carrying fleas and on the cuticles of ...

[Chromosomal resistance of plague agent to quinolones].
Antibiotiki i khimioterapiia = Antibiotics and chemoterapy [sic], 1992The nature of increasing chromosomal resistance to quinolones was studied in a model of the plague microbe. Five virulent strains of the natural plague microbe (Y. pestis) were used in the experiment: 363 (1/1479), 231, 2385, 2442 and 2444. The one-stage procedure for isolation of the mutants was applied.

Genomic polymorphism of strains of basic subspecies of plague causative agent
Molecular Genetics, Microbiology and Virology, 2009Genomic fingerprinting analysis of strains of the basic subspecies of plague causative agent extracted from different types of hotbeds in the Russian Federation and neighboring countries was performed. This analysis has enabled us to demonstrate their significant genetic polymorphism, as well as the similarity of their phenotypic characteristics ...

Principles of speciation of the plague causative agent Versinia pestis: Gradualism or saltation?
Biology Bulletin, 2009The saltation origin of the causative agent of the plague Yersinia pestis from the pseudotuberculosis microbe Y. pseudotuberculosis O:1b has been proclaimed in recent investigations on molecular genetics. The speciation process in this case is proposed to be connected with horizontal inclusion of exogenous genetic structures (such as specific plasmids ...

Potential Bioterrorism Agents with Mucocutaneous Findings (Anthrax, Plague, Tularemia, Smallpox)
2018A bioterrorism attack may occur, and prompt recognition is essential to prevent morbidity and mortality induced by these agents. This chapter reviews the classic presentation, atypical presentation, disease time course, and diagnostic features of several conditions that could potentially be used in a bioterrorism attack. Anthrax, plague, tularemia, and

[Various properties of RifR mutants of the plague agent].
Antibiotiki i khimioterapiia = Antibiotics and chemoterapy [sic], 1991The properties of the RifR mutants of four vaccinal and two natural strains of the plague bacillus were studied. The frequency of the mutants not growing on the complete nutrient medium after increasing the cultivation temperature to 37 degrees C averaged to 3.10(-1).

[Bactericidal action of formalin on the causative agent of plague].
Arkhiv patologii, 1979Ten per cent neutral formalin in a ratio 1 : 20 was demonstrated to be useful as a desinfecting and fixing substance in pathohistological examinations of organs and tissues animals infected with the causative agent of plague. With test-objects' volume of 1.0 cm3 the optimal period of exposure providing a permanent bactericidal effect is 24 hours, with ...
