Vetus Testamentum, 2011 AbstractSeveral biblical prayers include the speaker’s demand for judgment from God. Akkadian prayers contain similar language. Examination of plaintiffs’ statements in Neo-Babylonian lawsuit records substantiates the interpretation of these demands in prayers as a courtroom form of speech.
