Effect of (-)-epicatechin on the modulation of progression markers of chronic renal damage in a 5/6 nephrectomy experimental model

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Aims: To evaluate the effects of (-)-epicatechin (Epi) in the progression of kidney damage. Material and methods: We assessed the effects of Epi [0.01–20 mg/kg of body weight/day] during 14 days, in a 5/6 nephrectomy model in mice.

Striatal Input- and Rate-Dependent Effects of Muscarinic Receptors on Pallidal Firing

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2012
The globus pallidus (GP) plays a key role in the overall basal ganglia (BG) activity. Despite evidence of cholinergic inputs to GP, their role in the spiking activity of GP neurons has not received attention. We examine the effect of local activation and

Synthesis, In Silico, In Vivo, and Ex Vivo Evaluation of a Boron-Containing Quinolinate Derivative with Presumptive Action on mGluRs

open access: yesInorganics, 2023
In the brain, canonical excitatory neurotransmission is mediated by L-glutamate and its ionotropic (iGluR) and metabotropic (mGluR) receptors. The wide diversity of these often limits the development of glutamatergic drugs. This is due to the arduousness
