Wideband planar array antenna

Proceedings of MILCOM '95, 2002
Multiband operation of planar and phased array antennas is becoming increasingly important in both military and commercial communications due to the need for flexibility in meeting a number of operational SATCOM requirements. With today's technology, multiband operation requires changing antenna feed components and so hinders rapid changeover to ...

Thinning planar array antennas with ring arrays

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1963
A study has been made of thinning planar arrays by removing a large fraction of the elements, but keeping the main lobe width relatively unchanged and maintaining reasonably good sidelobe levels. The amplitude of the signal at each element is assumed constant (no amplitude taper). Peak sidelobes of the order of -25 db are obtained with a 10,000 element

Ultrawideband planar antennas and antenna arrays

2012 6th International Conference on Ultrawideband and Ultrashort Impulse Signals, 2012
The paper presents analysis of signals and planar monopole pulse antennas and antenna arrays designed for work in ultrawideband (UWB) frequency band 3.1–10.6GHz. A complex approach to design, synthesis and optimization of UWB antennas is proposed. Frequency and time characteristics of UWB signals, designed single and two-element antennas, results of ...

Planar Slot-Array Antenna

IETE Journal of Research, 1981
Planar antennas employing printed circuit techniques are ideally suited for aircraft, spacecraft and mobile-land applications. Keeping these in view, a 12×4-element planar array antenna has been developed. The antenna has a power gain of 19 dB. It has a half power beamwidth of 6° in the H-plane and 20° in the E-plane.

Light Focusing by Planar Array of Antennas

Frontiers in Optics 2011/Laser Science XXVII, 2011
Utilizing concentric loops as the scatterers of a transmitarray, subwavelength light localization in a desired distance is achieved. The flexibility of the elements makes it a convenient structure to engineer a high performance system.

A planar tri-band array antenna

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
A planar tri-band array antenna design is presented. The antenna has three equally tuned resonant bands and also maintains consistent radiation patterns in all the operational subbands. The antenna architecture is simple and measures only 0.33λ × 0.33λ (unit cell), at the lowest frequency of operation, making it suitable for array applications.

Design and development of planar antenna array for mimo application

Wireless Networks, 2020
Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) is the need for recent communication system for the enhancement of channel capacity. While the number of antenna array elements increased, the spacing between the array elements and size of the antenna reduced. Hence high coupling between the elements occur, and thus the channel capacity reduced.

Evaluation of directivity for planar antenna arrays

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2000
In this paper, the directivity, including phase shift factors, for several types of uniformly excited planar arrays is obtained. Four types of dipole arrays are considered: arrays of collinear short dipoles, and of parallel short dipoles; and broadside and end-fire arrays of crosses of short dipoles.

Development of a large planar array antenna

Proceedings of IEEE. AFRICON '96, 2002
This paper describes a planar array antenna developed for use with a 3D (i.e. height detection) long range mobile search radar. The radiating aperture consists of 576 individual L-band dipole radiators, grouped together in 18 identical horizontal linear arrays, which are spaced vertically. The antenna contains distributed transmit (TX) and receive (RX)

Foldable multifunctional planar antenna array

2012 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2012
In this paper, a novel foldable multifunctional planar antenna array is proposed. It provides two modes; diversity and directivity modes. Each mode is switched by folding and unfolding the proposed antenna array. For the diversity mode, four antenna elements are placed for MIMO applications.
