The planar lateral wave antenna
Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012A novel planar lateral wave antenna concept that promises impedance matching over factor a one to three bandwidth, very high efficiency, and high directivity in one plane in presented. The structure realizes a planar elliptical dielectric lens antenna for focusing the beams in the H-plane.

The architecture of a new type of L-band multiple-beam antenna (ALE 3*5) for air traffic control (ATC) is presented. The electrical performance makes it equivalent to an antenna with very sharp horizon cutoff, large coverage angles, and high gain. The design requirements are as follows: frequency band of 1.25-1.35 GHz: a modular architecture with few ...

The Planar Parabolic Optical Antenna
Nano Letters, 2012One of the simplest and most common structures used for directing light in macroscale applications is the parabolic reflector. Parabolic reflectors are ubiquitous in many technologies, from satellite dishes to hand-held flashlights. Today, there is a growing interest in the use of ultracompact metallic structures for manipulating light on the ...

Compact planar multiband antenna
2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005In this paper a compact multiband planar antenna for GPS (1575.4 MHz), DCS (1800 MHz), 2.4 GHz (2400-2485 MHz) and 5.8 GHz (5725-5825 MHz) WLAN is presented. The proposed antenna of dimensions 38 mm times 3 mm times 1.6 mm with three wide 2:1 VSWR bands around 1.8 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz successfully covers the above bands with good radiation and ...

This paper presents a summary of two different types of planar UWB monopole antennas, i.e. electric and magnetic types. The electric monopole uses copper disc/ring as the radiating element; while elliptical/circular slot serves as the radiator for the magnetic monopole.

Directivity of planar antennas
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 1999Starting with a common formula for directivity, given beamwidths, the author gives the modifications needed to improve the accuracy when the distribution is known. Also included is a nomograph that shows the parameters of the Taylor single-parameter distribution, and allows trade studies versus the sidelobe level.

A broadband planar antenna with stable radiation patterns is presented. It consists of a suspended radiator fed by a vertical feed through an n-shaped microstrip. The measured impedance bandwidth is 3.1-5.1 GHz for a return loss of |S11| < -10 dB, and an average gain of 7.7 dBi is achieved. There is no beam squinting across the operating frequency band.
