On monotone planar circuits

Proceedings. Fourteenth Annual IEEE Conference on Computational Complexity (Formerly: Structure in Complexity Theory Conference) (Cat.No.99CB36317), 2003
In this paper we show several results about monotone planar circuits. We show that monotone planar circuits of bounded width, with access to negated input variables, compute exactly the functions in non-uniform AC/sup 0/. This provides a striking contrast to the non-planar case, where exactly NC/sup 1/ is computed.

Spatial and Planar Optical Circuit

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2016
We describe an optics system that takes advantage of free space optics and waveguide optics. It offers attractive features for ROADM devices such as optical filters, tunable optical impairment compensators, and wavelength selective switches.

Adhesives in the packaging of planar lightwave circuits

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2004
Planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) offer significant performance and cost saving advantages over other optical component technologies. However, the packaging of the PLCs has been a challenging task due to the stringent performance and reliability requirements posed by the telecommunication applications. In this paper, those requirements for the PLC-based

Ferrite Planar Circuits in Microwave Integrated Circuits

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1977
The ferrite planar circuit to be discussed in this paper is a general planar circuit using ferrite substrates magnetized perpendicular to the ground conductors. The main subject of this paper is the analysis of an arbitrarily shaped triplate ferrite planar circuit. In particular, the circuit parameters of the equivalent multiport are determined.

Lower bounds for synchronous circuits and planar circuits

Information Processing Letters, 1989
It is shown that there exist explicitly defined one-output Boolean functions \(f_ n\) and \(g_ n\) with circuit complexity O(n) such that the synchronous circuit complexity of \(f_ n\) is \(\Omega\) (n log n) and the planar circuit complexity of \(g_ n\) is \(\Omega (n^ 2)\).
