Excitation of Surface Plasmons Using Tilted Planar-Waveguide Bragg Gratings
We present a planar-integrated optical surface plasmon refractometer. The fabricated device operates by grating-matched coupling between a core waveguide mode and a set of hybrid plasmon-dielectric modes of a much wider integrated structure.

Design of planar waveguide directional couplers with arbitrary modal electric field
The purpose of this work is to present a method for designing planar waveguide couplers of arbitrary modal electric field distributions. The idea here is to create couplers with unusual electric fields, which confine in one planar waveguide.

Planar Microwave Resonant Sensors: A Review and Recent Developments
Microwave sensors based on electrically small planar resonant elements are reviewed in this paper. By virtue of the high sensitivity of such resonators to the properties of their surrounding medium, particularly the dielectric constant and the loss ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
