Almost complete 23S rRNA gene sequences were obtained from 13 planctomycete strains, the fimbriated, prosthecate bacterium Verrucomicrobium spinosum and two strains of the genus Prosthecobacter. The 23S rRNA genes were amplified by the PCR, using modified primers.
