Phylogeny and Expansion of Serine/Threonine Kinases in Phagocytotic Bacteria in the Phylum Planctomycetota

open access: yesGenome Biology and Evolution
Abstract The recently isolated bacterium “Candidatus Uabimicrobium amorphum” is the only known prokaryote that can engulf other bacterial cells. Its proteome contains a high fraction of proteins involved in signal transduction systems, which is a feature normally associated with multicellularity in eukaryotes.

Изучение структуры микробного сообщества черноземных почв Молдовы с использованием высокопроизводительного секвенирования [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural Science, 2022
Based on the new generation sequencing method – pyrosequencing (Illumina), for the first time in Moldova, there were determined and described the metagenomic characteristics of the typical chernozem microbiome under different land use conditions.

Ocean acidification has a strong effect on communities living on plastic in mesocosms

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, 2023
We conducted a mesocosm experiment to examine how ocean acidification (OA) affects communities of prokaryotes and eukaryotes growing on single‐use drinking bottles in subtropical eutrophic waters of the East China Sea.

Four novel Planctomicrobium species isolated from sewage sludge or leakage water of a compost heap in Northern Germany [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Four non-pigmented, off-white to ivory strains, SH527T, SH661T, SH664T and SH668T, have been isolated from sewage sludge or leakage water of a compost heap in Northern Germany as part of an isolation campaign conducted by Heinz Schlesner, Kiel University

The novel taxon Lacunimicrobium album gen. nov., sp. nov. is constituted by three planctomycetotal strains isolated from freshwater habitats in Northern Germany [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
The majority of characterized members of the phylum Planctomycetota were isolated from marine habitats. To expand the open collection of limnic planctomycetes, we here characterize three isolates from the strain collection of Heinz Schlesner (Kiel ...

Kueselia aquadivae gen. nov., sp. nov., the first member of the family Isosphaeraceae isolated from subsurface percolates [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Subsurface habitats, found under various geological conditions, exhibit diverse microbial communities. The vadose zone, a previously unexplored subsurface compartment, connects the surface to phreatic groundwater.
