Electronic Structure and Bulk Spin Valve Behavior in Ca$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$

open access: yes, 2005
We report density functional calculations of the magnetic properties and Fermiology of Ca$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$. The ground state consists of ferromagnetic bilayers, stacked antiferromagnetically. The bilayers are almost but not exactly half-metallic.

Electrochemical generation of sulfur vacancies in the basal plane of MoS2 for hydrogen evolution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Recently, sulfur (S)-vacancies created on the basal plane of 2H-molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) using argon plasma exposure exhibited higher intrinsic activity for the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction than the edge sites and metallic 1T-phase of ...

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Total Factor Productivity of Tunisia’s manufacturing sectors: measurement, determinants and convergence towards OECD countries [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, sector-based Total Factor Productivity (TFP) is calculated for six Tunisian manufacturing sectors over the period 1983-2002. Economic determinants of the productive performance are also investigated.

Axial plane optical microscopy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present axial plane optical microscopy (APOM) that can, in contrast to conventional microscopy, directly image a sample's cross-section parallel to the optical axis of an objective lens without scanning.

Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardiotoxic Treatment Risks in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Higher doses of anthracyclines and heart‐relevant radiotherapy increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study assessed CVD and CVD risk factors among adult childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) across cardiotoxic treatment risk groups and examined associations between lifestyle behaviors and treatment risks.

SOME CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT SURFACES’ INTERSECTION

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2006
This paper wants to systematically and generally present the surfaces’ intersection, with special interest for the method of auxiliary surfaces. The intersections types presented are plane-cylinder, planecone, and cylinder-cylinder.

Broadband radiometric measurements from GPS satellites reveal summertime Arctic Ocean Albedo decreases more rapidly than sea ice recedes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
New measurements from the Arctic ± 40 days around the summer solstice show reflected sunlight from north of 80°N decreases 20–35%. Arctic sea ice coverage decreases 7–9% over this same time period (as reported by the NSIDC) implying Arctic sea ice albedo

Despite a difficult 2014 for the French economy, France is still far from being the ‘sick man of Europe’ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A number of concerns have been raised about the French economy following disappointing economic figures in 2014. As part of our ‘economies of Europe’ series, Mathieu Plane assesses the development of the French economy since the crisis and whether ...

Quaternion Hermitian Planes [PDF]

open access: yesResults in Mathematics, 1993
The quaternion hermitian planes are defined, and are characterized by certain groups of automorphisms. For this purpose, characterizations of locally compact connected translation planes (in the context of stable planes) and compact connected projective desarguesian planes are given.
