The decay of cyclonic eddies by Rossby wave radiation
It is argued that because shallow water cyclones on a β-plane drift westward at a speed equal to an available Rossby wave phase speed, they must radiate energy and cannot, therefore, be steady. The form of the Rossby wave wake accompanying a quasi-steady

Frame rate improvement in coherent plane-wave compounding using null subtraction imaging
Coherent plane-wave compounding (CPWC) has attracted significant attention in preclinical research and clinical diagnosis. However, a trade-off exists in CPWC between the image quality and frame rate.

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Propagator and wave-equation inversion for near-receiver material properties [PDF]
Near-receiver material properties are required for the separation of the recorded wavefield into upgoing and downgoing P and S waves, and are also important for static time-shift corrections.

In this paper, tight focusing of a superposition of a vortex laser beam with topological charge n with linear polarization and a plane wave with the same linear polarization directed along the horizontal axis is considered.
