United Wiener postfilter for plane wave compounding ultrasound imaging
Ultrasonics, 2021Plane wave compounding (PWC) is a valid method for ultrafast ultrasound imaging. Its imaging quality depends on the beamforming method. The coherence factor (CF) and Wiener postfilter are effective signal processing schemes for aberration correction. However, the CF usually causes over-suppression and brings artifacts. Additionally, the conventional CF

Optimized Plane Wave Imaging for Fast and High-Quality Ultrasound Imaging
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2016This paper presents a method for optimizing parameters affecting the image quality in plane wave imaging. More specifically, the number of emissions and steering angles is optimized to attain the best images with the highest frame rate possible. The method is applied to a specific problem, where image quality for a λ -pitch transducer is compared with ...

Wave-optics simulation of dynamic speckle: II. In an image plane
Applied Optics, 2021This two-part paper demonstrates the use of wave-optics simulations to model the effects of dynamic speckle. In Part II, we formulate closed-form expressions for the analytical irradiance correlation coefficient, specifically in the image plane of an optical system.

Imaging overturned waves by plane‐wave migration in tilted coordinates
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2004, 2004We image overturned waves by decomposing the source and receiver wavefields into plane-waves. For each plane-wave, we extrapolate the source and receiver wavefields in a tilted coordinate system and cross-correlate them to obtain Common Image Gathers (CIGs).

Plane-wave imaging of ocular blood-flow
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2019Blood-flow plays an important role in pathogenesis and progression of many ocular diseases. While optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) has revolutionized depiction of the retinal vasculature, it provides little information regarding flow velocities and cannot visualize the arteries and veins supplying and draining the eye.

Local Plane-Wave Imaging of GPR Data
Journal of Environmental & Engineering Geophysics, 2003Local Plane-Wave processing is used to image synthetic Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data in a non-homogeneous background. Numerically calculated Green’s functions are used to back propagate the data down to a Green’s function node in the center of the region to be imaged.

Common angle imaging with offset plane waves
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1997, 1997Migration is commonly used as a wavefield focussing tool in the study of the variation of reflection amplitude with offset (AVO), or with angle of incidence at reflectors. Migrations are typically applied to common offset or common incident angle sections.

Slant-Stack Migration Applied to Plane-Wave Ultrasound Imaging
2021 43rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBC), 2021Ultrafast plane-wave ultrasound imaging replaces numerous focused-beam transmissions with a single emitted plane-wave pulse, insonifying the entire subsurface region of interest all at once. To improve image quality, one can employ coherent plane wave compounding (CPWC), whereby several pulses are emitted sequentially at different steering angles, and ...

Phase-Shift Depth Migration for Plane-Wave Ultrasound Imaging
2018 40th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2018Plane-wave ultrasound imaging is an important modality that enables very high frame rates, which is necessary for adequate characterization of blood flow and tissue motion properties. This work describes a novel Fourier-domain method for plane-wave ultrasound image reconstruction that can be used in situations where the speed of sound varies with depth

Apparatus for multimodal plane wave ultrasound imaging
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006An ultrasonic imaging apparatus combined with an x-ray imaging apparatus and/or an additional ultrasonic imaging apparatus performs ultrasonic sonography and/or x-ray imaging or multiple ultrasonic sonography to produce imagery that are spatially correlated. A holding means holds an object to be imaged in compression in an examination area.
