A new climate for human nature? Navigating social theory through postnature, the anthropocene and posthumanism [PDF]

open access: yesFilozofija i Društvo
By examining debates on the Anthropocene era ignited by new materialist and posthumanist scholarship, this paper aims to discern how these perspectives can reframe the human-nature nexus.

Architecture of Kepler's Multi-transiting Systems: II. New investigations with twice as many candidates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report on the orbital architectures of Kepler systems having multiple planet candidates identified in the analysis of data from the first six quarters of Kepler data and reported by Batalha et al. (2013).

Modeling Repeated M Dwarf Flaring at an Earth-like Planet in the Habitable Zone: Atmospheric Effects for an Unmagnetized Planet [PDF]

open access: yesAstrobiology, 2017
Understanding the impact of active M dwarf stars on the atmospheric equilibrium and surface conditions of a habitable zone Earth-like planet is key to assessing M dwarf planet habitability.

A Simulative Approach for the Prediction of Mesoscale Residual Stress Fields in Solution‐Strengthened Ferritic Ductile Iron

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

The orbital motion, absolute mass, and high-altitude winds of exoplanet HD209458b

open access: yes, 2010
For extrasolar planets discovered using the radial velocity method, the spectral characterization of the host star leads to a mass-estimate of the star and subsequently of the orbiting planet. In contrast, if also the orbital velocity of the planet would

Highly Stable Low‐Temperature Phosphate Glass as a Platform for Multimaterial 3D Printing of Integrated Functional Microfluidic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A highly stable, low‐temperature phosphate glass is developed for multimaterial additive manufacturing of multifunctional microfluidics. Glass, metal conductors, and sacrificial polymer are coprinted, enabling monolithic fabrication. The sacrificial paste forms precise channels and decomposes during sintering.

The hydrogen Lyman α line shape in the exospheres of terrestrial objects in the solar system

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The exospheres of all objects are mostly made of atomic hydrogen. Because the Sun is bright in Lyman α, the properties of the H atoms in the exospheres of certain terrestrial solar system objects can be studied by analyzing the resonantly scattered solar

The Delivery of Water During Terrestrial Planet Formation [PDF]

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2018
The planetary building blocks that formed in the terrestrial planet region were likely very dry, yet water is comparatively abundant on Earth. Here we review the various mechanisms proposed for the origin of water on the terrestrial planets.
