Silent Partners in the Mill: Unveiling the Role of Additives in Mechanochemical Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Mechanochemistry offers a sustainable, solvent‐free alternative to traditional synthesis, often enhanced by additives in a process known as additive‐assisted grinding. This review discusses how various additives, including liquids, ionic solids, and advanced materials like ionic liquids and piezoelectric compounds, improve reaction efficiency ...

Production of syndiotactic polystyrene powder for part manufacturing through SLS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Selective laser sintering (SLS) is a well-established additive manufacturing (AM) process. While AM originally found its use as rapid prototyping technique, it is nowadays more and more considered for the production of actual end-use parts.

A Fast and Highly Stable Aqueous Calcium‐Ion Battery for Sustainable Energy Storage

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Aqueous batteries provide a low‐cost, safer alternative to lithium‐ion batteries, but their viability is often limited by rapid electrode degradation. This study shows that replacing K+ with divalent Ca2+ ions in the electrolyte significantly boosts the stability of both copper hexacyanoferrate cathodes and polyimide anodes, enabling fast‐charging ...

Nano materials preparation mechanism of planetary ball mill

open access: yes
Abstract Mechanical ball milling is a planetary ball milling process used to prepare nanomaterials, but its preparation mechanism is still not clear. Previous research has focused more on the influence of various operating parameters of the ball mill, with relatively little attention paid to the motion analysis of the milling balls, resulting ...

MECHANOCHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF CEO2 NANOPOWDER USING PLANETARY BALL MILLING

open access: yesJurnal Sains dan Teknologi Reaksi, 2016
Nanocrystalline cerium dioxide (CeO2) had been successfully synthesized by mechanochemical technique at  12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours milling times. The starting materials, hydrated cerium carbonate and sodium hydroxide, were mixed in weight ratio of 4:1 and were milled in a planetary ball mill with ball to powder ratio of 10:1.

Entropy‐Driven Design of Stable High‐Performance Sodium‐Ion Battery Cathodes

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
This review explores high‐entropy strategies for advanced sodium‐ion battery cathodes, focusing on LTMOs and PBAs. It details how entropy engineering mitigates challenges: phase transitions, interface degradation, and air instability in LTMOs; vacancy defects and crystalline water in PBAs.

Geochemistry‐Driven Recovery of Li and Fe From Spent LiFePO4 Cathodes via Stabilized Phosphorus Mineralization

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A geochemistry‐guided, acid‐free recycling paradigm for spent LFP batteries. ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries presents a critical challenge for sustainable end‐of‐life management, where conventional recycling methods heavily depend on intensive acid/oxidant use and overlook persistent phosphorus pollution.
