Arc Splitting and Back‐Arc Spreading Evolution: The Control of Slab Dehydration and Melting Processes

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Subduction zones are integral to Earth's deep water cycle, influencing magmatism, lithosphere dynamics and seismicity. They often exhibit development of extensional processes in the upper plate, which may lead to volcanic arc splitting and backarc basin ...

Determination of Jupiter’s Pole Orientation from Juno Radio Science Data

open access: yesAerospace
The extreme accuracy of Juno radio science data allows us to perform very precise orbit determination experiments. While previous works focused on the estimation of the gravitational field of Jupiter, in this article, we aim to accurately determine the ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Planetary dynamics

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1971
Under planetary dynamics we include precise range determinations and improvements in the ephemerides, new ideas and tests of general relativity, tidal evolution of planetary spins and the orbit of the moon, commensurabilities in the solar system, and several selected topics dealing with unusual or long standing problems.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Dynamic Responses of the Planetary Gear Mechanism Considering Dynamic Wear Effects

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
Gear wear is unavoidable and results in vibrations and decreased performance in a planetary gear system. In this work, the wear phenomenon of the gear teeth surface and the dynamic responses of the planetary gear mechanism are investigated through a ...
