Displacement isomorphism of planetary gear trains

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1994
Abstract This paper presents an efficient method for the identification of the displacement isomorphism of planetary gear trains with any number of gear pairs. For every plantary gear train, the corresponding displacement graph and rotation graph are used to characterize its kinematic structure.

Dynamic Analysis of Helical Planetary Gear Train

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
A dynamic model for helical planetary gear train (HPGT) is proposed. Based on the model, the free vibration characteristics, steady-state dynamic responses and effects of design parameters on system dynamics are investigated through numerical simulations. The free vibration of the HGPT is classified into 3 categories. The classified vibration modes are

Survey of dynamics of planetary gear trains

International Journal of Materials and Structural Integrity, 2008
Planetary gear trains (PGT) have been widely used in many industries due to their unique advantages over parallel shaft gear trains. With increased demand for high speed and low vibration and low noise machinery, dynamic analysis of PGT has gained importance.

The Analysis of Planetary Gear Trains

Volume 2: 30th Annual Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, Parts A and B, 2006
The Generalized Lever is a new tool in gear train representation. It extends the traditional concept of a lever representation of a planetary gear set to one that includes negative lever ratios. This allows an exhaustive permutation of the nodes of a lever, thereby leading to all possible topological arrangements of a planetary gear train. Consequently,

Analytical geometry method of planetary gear trains

Science China Technological Sciences, 2012
This paper presents an analytical geometry method for kinematics and efficiency of planetary gear trains (PGTs). The novel method which is capable of evolution and contrast analysis of mechanism kinematics, can be applied to any typical one- and two-degree-of-freedom plane PGTs containing any number of simple, compound or complex-compound planetary ...

Random Vibration Analysis of Planetary Gear Trains

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 2013
This article investigates the vibration response of a planetary gear train under excitations of both deterministic and random loads. A lumped parameter model has been used in this investigation and the random excitations are represented by white noise.

the design of Planetary Gear Trains

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1959
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">THE usefulness of planetary gear trains and the engineering techniques necessary for optimum design are discussed in this paper. A simple method for calculating planetary gear ratios is described which can be used to determine quickly the potential usefulness of any planetary ...

Graphical aid for planetary gear train design

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1989
Abstract A graphical overlay method is presented which can be used in the design of simple planetary gear trains when it is desired to establish gear sizes to produce given speed ratios. The technique can be used to establish both specific gear sizes and ratios as well as permissible size and ratio ranges.

Simplified kinematic analysis of planetary gear trains

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1972
Abstract A method is described for the kinematic analysis of planetary gear trains, and it is shown that the method is particularly suitable for the analysis of gear trains with more than two degrees of freedom, such as those which are used in many automatic transmissions.
