Chemical Intercalant Affects the Structural Properties and Aqueous Stability of V2CTx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Vanadium carbide (V2CTx) MXene dispersions and films were synthesized using four commonly used tetraalkylammonium hydroxide intercalating agents of varying alkyl chain length. The corresponding effects of MXene structure d‐spacing, flake size and morphology, and vanadium dissolution from MXene thin films were systematically investigated to better ...

Kepler-91b: a planet at the end of its life. Planet and giant host star properties via light-curve variations

open access: yes, 2013
The evolution of planetary systems is intimately linked to the evolution of their host star. Our understanding of the whole planetary evolution process is based on the large planet diversity observed so far.

Surface‐Engineered Solar‐Driven Interfacial Evaporation: Innovations and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the fundamental principles of solar‐driven evaporation and presents methodologies for evaluating key performance parameters. Particular attention is given to the design of surface‐engineered evaporators, especially those incorporating polyelectrolyte‐modified interfaces to enhance water activation.

The Trigonometric Parallax of the Brown Dwarf Planetary System 2MASSW J1207334-393254

open access: yes, 2007
We have measured a trigonometric parallax to the young brown dwarf 2MASSW J1207334-393254. The distance [54.0 (+3.2,-2.8) pc] and space motion confirm membership in the TW Hydrae Association. The primary is a ~25 M_jup brown dwarf.

Transparent, Sprayable Plastic Films for Luminescent Down‐Shifted‐Assisted Plant Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
Spreading the light: A modular approach to down‐shifting europium‐containing polyoxotitanium luminescent cages is developed, allowing their incorporation into sprayable plastic coatings on agricultural greenhouses for accelerated plant growth. Abstract The world's steadily growing population and global heating due to climate change are a threat to food

2-D numerical experiments of thermal convection of highly viscous fluids under strong adiabatic compression: implications on mantle convection of super-Earths with various sizes

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
We conduct a series of numerical experiments of thermal convection of compressible fluids with temperature-dependent viscosity, in order to study how the adiabatic compression and model geometries affect the mantle convection on super-Earths.

Thermally Pulsing Asymptotic Giant Branch Star Models and Globular Cluster Planetary Nebulae I: The Model

open access: yes, 2011
Thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch models of globular cluster stars are calculated using a synthetic model with the goal of reproducing the chemical composition, core masses and other observational parameters of the four known globular cluster ...
