3D Printing of Highly Electrically Conductive Zinc for Sustainable Electronics Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A 3D printable zinc ink system with active zinc particles in a shellac matrix is demonstrated. The results show high conductivity, stable performance of printed structures under varying humidity conditions, and promising application in disposable water‐activated batteries. This technology combining digital material assembly, reliable operation, and non‐

Different Planetary Eccentricity-period (PEP) Distributions of Small and Giant Planets

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We used the database of 1040 short-period (1 ≤ P < 200 days) exoplanets radial-velocity orbits to study the planetary eccentricity-period (PEP) distribution.

Tailoring the Electrochemical Performance of SnO2‐Based Anodes for Li‐Ion Batteries: Effect of Morphology and Composite Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Three different composite anodes, based on SnO2, are investigated as potential anode materials for lithium‐ion batteries. Three different strategies are employed to stabilize SnO2 upon cycling i.e., i) use of an inorganic matrix (TiO2), ii) use of an amorphous carbon matrix, and iii) use of SnO2 with a tailored morphology (nanorod) and a carbon coating.

Can solid body destruction explain abundance discrepancies in planetary nebulae?

open access: yes, 2010
In planetary nebulae, abundances of oxygen and other heavy elements derived from optical recombination lines are systematically higher than those derived from collisionally excited lines. We investigate the hypothesis that the destruction of solid bodies

Matrix‐Free Quantum Dot‐Deposited Films with Perfect Color Conversion for Automotive Taillights

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study represents an aerosol‐assisted deposition (AAD) method for fabricating host matrix‐free quantum dot (QD) films, achieving complete wavelength conversion without blue light leakage. The AAD enables bezel‐free patterned deposition, and the resulting prototype demonstrates vivid red emission, crisp color, and design flexibility, highlighting QD‐

Hot Jupiters and Cool Stars

open access: yes, 2014
Close-in planets are in jeopardy as their host stars evolve off the main sequence to the subgiant and red giant phases. In this paper, we explore the influences of the stellar mass (in the range 1.5--2\Mso ), mass-loss prescription, planet mass (from ...

Architected Elastomers as Load Bearing Actuators for Untethered Soft Robot Walking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Electrically driven soft actuators that enable untethered soft robot walking are developed from 3D printed architected elastomers. The actuators have a handed shearing auxetic structure that enables fast, robust, and battery‐powered motions. The actuators are 3D printed from thermoplastic polyurethane on a desktop FDM printer.
