Hydrocarbon Potential of the Pabdeh Formation: Geochemical Insights Into Immature Source Rock Capabilities

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Pabdeh Formation (Paleocene‐Oligocene) is one of the hydrocarbon‐generating formations in the Zagros sedimentary basin. In this study, to evaluate its hydrocarbon potential and the distribution of organic matter maturity, samples were collected from oil fields in southwestern Iran and the Dezful embayment and analyzed geochemically.

Global artificial light masks biologically important light cycles of animals

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
We document the importance of low‐light conditions in 136 animal species and then translate the new world atlas of skyglow, which reports artificial night sky brightness, into estimates of anthropogenic illuminance (that is, artificial light reaching Earth's surface).
