Pyroxene grains from 14 basalt suites from the Earth, Moon, Mars, and Vesta were studied by electron- and ion-microprobe techniques. The results show that several elemental trends can be related to planetary parentage and crystallization conditions including paragenetic sequence and kinetics.

Optical design of a compact imaging spectrometer for planetary mineralogy
Optical Engineering, 2007We present the design of a compact, wide-angle pushbroom imaging spectrometer suitable for exploration of solar system bodies from low orbit. The spectrometer is based on a single detector array with a broadband response that covers the range 400 to 3000 nm and pro- vides a spectral sampling of 10 nm.
