Evaluation of Matrix Effects in SIMS Using Gaussian Process Regression: The Case of Olivine Mg Isotope Microanalysis

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 39, Issue 13, 15 July 2025.
ABSTRACT Rationale Matrix effects by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) are empirically corrected by calibration using matrix‐matched reference materials. However, conventional parametric regression cannot estimate the prediction uncertainty to account for the difference in compositions of new data and reference materials. Applying Gaussian process

Whither or Wither the Sulfur Anomaly in Planetary Nebulae?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present a thorough investigation of the long-standing sulfur anomaly enigma. Our analysis uses chemical abundances from the most extensive data set available for 126 planetary nebulae (PNs) with improved accuracy and reduced uncertainties from a 10° ×

New Planetary Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1993
As a complement to the “Strasbourg–ESO Catalogue of Galactic Planetary Nebulae” (Acker et al. 1992), we give the list of newly discovered planetary nebulae.

Testing the binary hypothesis for the formation and shaping of planetary nebulae

open access: yes, 2012
There is no quantitative theory to explain why a high 80% of all planetary nebulae are non-spherical. The Binary Hypothesis states that a companion to the progenitor of a central star of planetary nebula is required to shape the nebula and even for a ...

A survey for PAH emission in H II regions, planetary and proto-planetary nebulae [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of a systematic investigation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission in H II regions, planetary nebulae (PN), and proto-planetary nebulae (PNN), are reported. Data is obtained from the low resolution spectra (LRS) of IRAS.

Catalogues of Planetary Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1989
Firstly, the general requirements concerning catalogues are studied for planetary nebulae, in particular concerning the objects to be included in a catalogue of PN, their denominations, followed by reflexions about the afterlife and computerized versions of a catalogue.

Origin of Planetary Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1967
My interest in the origin of planetary nebulae goes back to 1967 when I proposed that the envelopes of giants with degenerate carbon-helium cores were dynamically unstable and would be completely ejected to form a planetary nebula. Essentially the same proposal was made almost simultaneously by Lucy (1967) and Paczyński (1967).

A Comprehensive Catalog of Emission-line Nebulae, Star Clusters, and Supergiants in M31 from the LAMOST Spectroscopic Survey

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Spectroscopic observations of various tracers in nearby galaxies, such as Andromeda (M31), play a crucial role in identifying and classifying individual stellar populations and nebular objects, thereby enhancing our understanding of galactic composition,
