TRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1995 The authors designed and constructed a gear train testing machine which can test the component planetary gear trains used in an automatic transmission of a passenger car with four kinds of speed stages. In one of the speed stages, planetary gears are used as gear coupling and no speed change occurs.
